Royal Salute
Chivas Brothers, who founded their renowned distillery and brand in Aberdeen in 1801 produce Royal Salute, a popular scotch whisky. The home of this infamous brand is Strathisla Distillery located in Keith, Moray in the Speyside region of Scotland. Royal Salute is a premium prestige Scotch whisky that was introduced by Chivas Brothers in 1953 as a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on 2nd June on the occasion of her coronation. Named after the 21 traditional gun salutes, this premium whisky is aged for a period of 21 years, which allows it to develop a complex and rich taste.
Typically priced from $200 – $900, this whisky is majorly sold in Russia, Asia, South America, Middle East and international duty free markets. Due to its long aging, the stocks of this whisky are limited. Another reason is that for each year of maturation, about 2% of the whisky evaporates. This process has been termed as “angel’s share”.
