Made from rum and citrus (generally lime juice) and sweetened by sugar, Daiquiri is a popular family of cocktails based on rum. Rum based drinks were earlier looked down and considered to be drink of sailors. But during the World War II, when whiskeys and vodkas started getting rationed in US, rum from neighbouring Cuba and Latin America started getting accepted in America and Daiquiri rose into prominence in the world of cocktails.

Here’s how you can make a quick basic Daiquiri cocktail:
Ingredients:
- 2 parts White Rum
- 1 tsp Sugar Syrup
- Lime
Juice - Crushed
Ice
Preparation:
- Take crushed ice in the shaker
- Pour all the ingredients in it
- Shake well
- Strain it into Glass
- Decorate the glass with Lime wedge

- US President J.F. Kennedy had Daiquiri as one of his favourite drinks
- There’s a beach named Daiquiri near Santiago, Cuba. Many say drink takes name from this beach as this drink has Cuban origin
