Founded in 1749, at London, the company was initially known as Johnson & Justerini, and used to deliver spirits and sophisticated wine to numerous up-scale families including King George III. However in 1831, Alfred Brooks bought the company and it was renamed as Justerini & Brooks.
History
Giacomo Justerini, moved to London in 1749, with an opera singer, who he fell in love with. He carried his uncle’s unique liqueur recipe with him. He partnered up with George Johnson and they started dealing with wines as merchants. After selling off the business to Johnson, Justerini
returned to his hometown in 1760. During the same year King George III chose the firm to give the prestigious Royal Warrant. Alfred Brooks, finally bought the business in 1831. The firm was then known as Justerini & Brooks and was headquartered in Regent’s Park. J&B whisky not only has the perfect blended taste yet they are of the initial of the London spirit companies, who bought stocks of aged single malt whiskies. In the starting of 1950, J&B formed the United Wine Traders, after being merged with a distinctive renowned company. International Distilleries & Vintners were formed later on in 1962, when UWT had a merger with W&A Gilbey, a gin producer. J&B won the “six Queens” award, for its excellence in export in 1963.
